Porcelain Goddess is one of my favourite pieces. The idea came to me as i use to walk to work and there was a full moon, even in the suburbs the full moon can still hhave a mystical effect. Fog and shadows can create some wonderful images on the pavementand in the still half a sleep dream state an active imagination can take over. I use to picture a dancing lady, graceful movements, like a ballet dancer, dancing on the moon beams.
In the song there is a boy, with a statue on his window sill and when the moonlight touches it, it comes to life and dances. He watches in awe and salls in love with the dancer but doesn't act on it, eventully the dancer doesn't come and he is heart broken. Eventually he decides to dance in the moonlight and she comes back, she was waiting for him to join her.
The message in this song is act before it is too late, you never know what you will miss out on.
Porcelain Goddess
There she stands on the window sill,
Standing tall, standing still
She waits until the pale moonlight
Then she dances well into the night.
Dancing by the moons soft white glow
She dances fast, she dances slow
Dance porcelain goddess, dance.
Dance, dance, porcelain goddess
Dance the night away
Dance, dance, porcelain goddess
Dance until the break of day
She dances sweetly, dancing all night,
Dancing in the moons white light
Spinning until the break of day
Then the magic fades away
She doesn’t move in the warm sunlight
Only by the dark of night
Dance porcelain goddess, Dance
Dance, dance, porcelain goddess
Dance the night away
Dance, dance, porcelain goddess
Dance until the break of day
Then one night she didn't start
The pain it broke my beating heart
She didn't dance in the pale moons light
In the darkness of the star filled night
Then a voice in my head did say
"The magic has not gone away,
In your heart the magic stays
Until the breaking light of day.”
Dance, dance, porcelain goddess
Dance the night away
Dance, dance, porcelain goddess
Dance until the break of day
Now this night I decided to dance,
Bring back the magic of the moonlights lance
Then through the window I did see,
My porcelain goddess coming for me
No longer little, nor porcelain
I saw the heart that beats with in
She called my name softly sweet
Calling for me to come meet
Now together we dance the night away,
Until the coming light of day.
